Collaborative Work

We decided to experiment with projection, light and distortion using different materials. We made a conscious decision to not think of making a final outcome, just to use new techniques and any everyday material we had to hand. By working like this we did not limit our output and could progress on techniques and ideas we found most effective. We reflected on what these could represent and become if developed further. We enjoyed the fact that these pieces were open for interpretation and did not have a direct concept placed upon them. 

Edited Photo Sets

Here i just experimented with layering the photos from the second set up so that the people walking through are left on the image like ghostly reminders of what has happened in that space. Although it is a simple idea, i really like the outcome. Also the tiles on the floor remain in exactly the same position, due to using a tripod, giving the images a constant. 

Snow set-up

For this set up, unlike the others, i got my little brother to walk backwards and forwards through a space that i had my camera focused on. I wanted to be able to see the change in the snow with the build up of footsteps. I think it worked well and i am going to set up a video piece in the same way to add the natural sound of the footsteps going over the snow. 

Third set of 10 Second Photos

This is my third set of photos where i set up the camera and took photos every 10 seconds. I decided to set it up in the park and make it so that the frame lines up on both sides, in case i wanted to display the photos in one continuous line. I also displayed these playing in a slideshow, which gave a gap of 10 seconds between each photograph, playing it in the same time frame i photographed it as. The feedback i recieved from this was that the slides with no people in are sometimes the most alluring as they felt they were waiting to see something distort the frame. From this response i will work with video and zoom the camera into something unrecognisable so that when a different image does engulf the whole screen, it will totally distort the image.

More 10 Second Snapshots

Here i set up my camera again somewhere i knew that alot of people would be walking past. I was interested in just seeing peoples feet moving through the space. I found the amount of people that moved through the space whilst i was photographing it interesting and think that the line up of photos seems quite intriguing as the viewer is left to imagine the rest of the person, bike, buggy etc. 

10 Second Photos

I am currently looking at the construction of narratives within videos and photos. To experiment with these ideas i set up my camera in my window looking down at the road below. I knew that people and cars would be moving through the space but that i could not choreograph or construct. This first test was created between 4.30 and 5.00pm, and i took a photo every 10 seconds for the whole half hour. This gave me a 180 photo, unconstructed narrative leaving viewers to make their own assumptions.
